Tillymin Services - Who exactly are we?
How it all began...
In February 2003 Kristan was given a gel-candle by a friend in Perth (as a belated Christmas present - as the friend didn't want to send it in the mail!), and after having just become engaged, it was decided that Kristan & Scott would make them for their upcoming wedding (in September later that year)...
They then made some more for markets & had some success at selling them at the local markets and in a couple of shops.
...

They got *so* much positive feedback at the wedding that it encouraged them to continue on - Christmas 2003 they sold their products at Grand Central Shopping Centre (in Toowoomba) and they were a *huge* success!
Where to from there...?
Kristan continued the business on a part-time basis in between her work in administration, but by early 2004, the business had grown significantly, so she started to work full-time on the business and just do part-time work to supplement her income while the business started off.
During 2004, the business continued to grow, more stock lines were included, Kristan & Scott sourced more suppliers and generally improved the range of supplies & pre-made candles. In October 2004, Kristan made the big step to travel north to Townsville in order to display at the Townsville Craft/Sewing Show... its an expensive trip to go so far away from home for the first show - but it was a great learning experience. We finished 2004 on a high note with two weeks at Grand Central & a very busy New-Year period.
...another year passed, and they grew even more significantly. They had gained many new faces to their customer base from all around Australia for weddings, hobbies or businesses.
In 2006 everything changed for them and the business! Kristan gave birth to twins They were born 6 weeks prematurely also which complicated many aspects of their lives including business.
In Jan 2011 they were effected by the floods, Kristan was very unwell for an exerted period of time and they moved the entire family to Brisbane for a new 'day' job role for Kristan...
The present and near future...
Kristan fell pregnant with baby number three (due in October) and that we would then have to juggle the daily operations of Tillymin, both of us working full-time, kids in school and now the complications of pregnancy!
They intended on continuing to operate the business as previously with a few minor changes to how things were run.
This is how I came into it.
My name is Mel, I am a very creative Person. I have dabbled in lots of different crafts and hobbies over the years. I have been making candles for a few years now and I wanted to add a different element to my line of candles. I met Kristan through the Tillymin Website. We got talking and to cut a long story short, I purchased the Tillymin business from her.
My circumstances are very different to Kristan. I am able to have the operating hours on a 9-5 basis through the day and am contactable by phone and email.
The change to Tillymin is quite minimal, I have the same ideas on Customer Service that Tillymin have always had, I doubt you will notice much difference apart from the Location that your goods are being shipped from….. I have re-located Tillymin to Victoria.
